“Public Health 101 for the Medical Toxicologist” is a 1-hour interactive webinar exploring the unique and important role that medical toxicology has in protecting the population’s health. The presentation includes an overview of public health principles and approaches, and offers participants an opportunity to explore how their medical roles can work collaboratively with public health efforts, and vice versa.


Learning Objectives

In this webinar, participants will:

  • Explore foundational principles and essential services of public health.
  • Acquire insights on the differences between and intersections of public health approaches and clinical care.
  • Examine the overlapping roles and possibilities of medical toxicology within governmental public health.

Target Audience

This webinar is designed for medical toxicologists, fellows, residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals interested in an overview of public health principles and approaches.

University of Hawai‛i at Mānoa

Dr. Yuka Polovina is a faculty member at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Department of Public Health Sciences. She works on developing and supporting academic and workforce pathways in public health. Through collaborations with the Hawai‘i State Department of Health, Dr. Polovina designs and delivers public health trainings across the state. She is also an interdisciplinary educator with pedagogical interests in social and educational equity.
