Join ACMT in San Diego!

The ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) is an opportunity for specialists in the field to gather together to learn from the cutting-edge research of their peers. After a 2-year hiatus, ACMT is back for a fully in-person meeting in 2023, complete with all the networking and social opportunities that make our events so rich with engagement. In addition, ACMT will mark the 30th anniversary since its founding!

The day preceding ASM, ACMT will have it’s Pre-Symposium on “Self-Harm, Suicidality, and the Poisoned Patient: The Intersection of Toxicology and Mental Health” on March 30th. And the day before that, on March 29th, we are delighted to announce that the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT) will be joining us with their own half-day Pre-Symposium “DEI in Toxicology: What it Means for Patients and Learners.”

Abstracts & Posters

Showcase Your MedTox Research

The ACMT Research Committee welcomes all types of original research of interest to medical toxicologists and their patients. Our goal is to enrich our annual meeting attendee experience by offering presentations that share the latest science and clinical practices from the front lines of medical toxicology. The 2023 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting will be a fully in-person event. There will be no virtual option.

Four Ways To Present:

  • Platform presentations
  • Lightning oral presentations
  • Moderated poster forums
  • Poster-only sessions

ACMT will accept abstracts from September 1 - November 15, 2022. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and acceptance will be based on content, available space, and overall program balance. All authors will be notified via email in mid-December.

MedTox Case Panel

The Education Committee invites Fellows-in-Training and ACMT Members to submit a case of a unique or interesting patient for presentation at the “MedTox Case Panel: Case-Based Conundrums" taking place during the 2023 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting, March 31 - April 2, 2023 in San Diego, CA.

Three cases will be selected for presentation and discussion by a panel of Medical Toxicology specialists. All cases will be considered, but there is a specific interest in complex or controversial management issues encountered by the medical toxicologist.

The 2023 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting will be fully in-person. Presenters will be expected to register for the meeting and present in-person on the main stage in San Diego. There will be no virtual option.

How to Apply:

Please submit a 500 word max. abstract of the case that includes:

  1. Initial Clinical Presentation
  2. Hospital Course
  3. Challenges or controversies surrounding management

If selected, participants will have 10-15 minutes to present the case, leaving 15-20 minutes of discussion by the panel and the audience.

This is a great opportunity for fellows and junior faculty to gain experience speaking at a national conference.

How It Works

After initial review of all submissions, a select number of abstracts will be selected for presentation at the 2023 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting on March 31 - April 2, 2023 in San Diego, CA.

This meeting will be fully in-person. Presenters will be expected to register for the meeting and present in-person on the main stage in San Diego. There will be no virtual option.

During the Open Mic session, selected presenters are required to give their presentation in an Ignite style. This format creates intense and fast presentations with sharp, concise messages. Each presentation must be 5 minutes long and have the following format:

  • 20 slides
  • 15 seconds per slide
  • Slides automatically advance after 15 seconds

This is an example of an Ignite® talk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGENcskRGRk&feature=youtu.be

More information on the Ignite format can be found here
